Don't just take my word for it - hear it straight from those who have
taken courses with David Lyons!
Ciaron Murphy
Rathgar Pre-Test
Hi David,
Sorry for taking so long to get this mail to you I think
I said I would have it to you by Friday and I never did. Just wanted to
say thank you for your help on Thurs and Friday last week I wouldn't have
passed without you. I ended up going out on Sat to look at a few bikes
(hooked again I Know, but I have a major soft spot when it comes to bikes)
so I just bought an '05 Suzuki Bandit 600 (restricted) that I saw down
in Gorey bikes
I will have it by the weekend :- )
My first experience with Easy Rider Training was for my
Pre-test with David Lyons (Easy Rider Training instructor). I hadn't been
on a motorcycle for almost three years so was a little nervous but also
a little excited. I must admit though I was mostly nervous about getting
back on the road, trained and tested in such a short space of time.
Upon our initial meeting at the school on Orwell rd in
Rathgar village David showed me around the motorcycle and made me aware
of the format of the mornings training program then it was time to hit
the road. We used radios to stay in contact while driving the motorbikes,
I had a very comfortable ear piece which he used to give me pointers and
advice through. David is extremely clear and easy to understand in his
instruction which makes getting on with improving your driving skills
much more comfortable. He was very relaxed in every instruction given
which in turn relaxed me.
When it was my turn to drive infront David never missed
a heart beat he was very thorough and noticed even small flaws in my driving,
correcting them again with calm clear instruction or acknowledging any
manoeuvres I preformed successfully (something that is commonly over-looked
by instructors). This not only promoted confidence in David but ultimately
in myself and created a great learning atmosphere.
It wasn't long before I was getting back into the swing
of things my confidence was increasing little by little. David's tuition
reminded me the attention to detail required to drive a motorcycle safely
it was a great experience, I know it was only a pre-test but I was on
a real high afterwards. The following day I went for my test and despite
being very nervous I passed with only two grade 1's and one grade 2 marks
against me. I definitely wouldn't have been up to a passing standard without
my pre-test with David. I can't recommend the Easy Rider Training school
enough and I look forward to doing some more advanced training course
with them in the future.

Advanced Day.
I've never taken any rider training before so
I decided it was a good idea to get some sound advice.
I met David in Rathnew (Wicklow). He started the lesson asking
me all sorts of questions on my previous experience and what I wanted from
the training. We started the lesson with me out in front and
David observing my riding, when we stopped after a few miles David gave
me a real eye opener on where I was going wrong and what I could
do to correct it. David then gave me a radio and showed me how it
should be done. Initially it felt weird to be doing more or
less the opposite to what I had been doing whilst cornering but
by the end of the day I felt more relaxed on
the road, my cornering and awareness had improved immensely.
David is an excellent teacher who I would highly recommend.

David Guilfoyle, Arklow (BMW R1150GS)
Pre-Test.
Just a wee note to say thank you, returning
to biking after 20 odd years, I thought I was ready and able to
sit a test, not able to afford another long wait for a re-test if
the dreaded test was not successful! I opted for a pre test with
Dave, I can only say if I had'nt of done so I would'nt have passed,
but I did FIRST time!!!
I advise for anyone, not only taking a test, but returning to motorcycling
to contact Dave. In a word 'Excellent' and a few quid well spent,
I hope to take the advanced course later this year with him, and
will look forward to it, not only for cheaper insurance etc, but
to see where I can improve as a rider
Once again Dave
Thank you |
| Pat Richards, Wicklow Town (Aprilla
Pegaso 650)
Beginner.
I had never ridden a bike before so I
took a beginners day course. David came to my house and at the end
of a tiresome but enjoyable day I was riding my bike safely. He
covered the route that I would use everyday to work as I had intended
to use the bike just for commuting however I'm out practically every
weekend since I got it riding on country roads.

George Whyte, Kildare Town (School Bike CB250)
Beginner.
Thanks for the excellent days training.
I am now on the road on a Honda Varadero XLV125 - it lacks the power
of the CB250 (school bike) but perfect for around town. |

AON Assessment Grade 2
Just a few lines regarding the training day on Wednesday last. I
really enjoyed the day and was very happy with the result. I intend
to put in to practice all the things I learned and hopefully my
skills will continue to improve. That was the main objective of
undertaking the training, as I said to you. However, a pleasant
surprise.....I managed to reduce my insurance premium from €531.00
with CN (Third party only) to €315.00 (fully comp) with AON.
That almost covered the cost of the training day, which was a birthday
gift from my wife by the way. Anyway, thanks again David for a most
rewarding day. I look forward to seeing you again sometime in the
future.
Regards
Gerry

Carl Courtley, Castleknock (Honda Deauville 650)
Pre-Test.
When my test date arrived after waiting
well over a year I had to pass as the insurance was over €3000,
the 30% discount rewarded to full licence holders was the only way
I could afford to renew my premium. I felt nervous even doing the
pre-test but David helped me to relax. He gave me a good understanding
on what the examiners are looking for and covered everything including
the routes that would be used. Needless to say I passed with flying
colours! You would be mad not to take this course before your test. |

Advanced Day
Just wanted to pop you a note to say thanks for
the advanced training you gave on Tuesday.
I'm putting into practice what you showed me every day now, especially
the cornering just using engine braking.
(saving me a fortune on brake pads too ;) ) I'll be recommending
you to anyone I know from beginner to advanced as you helped me
sail through my bike test as well. Hope to see you soon for some
more advanced trainning, you never stop learning.

Conor Twomey, Dublin
(School Bike 250cc)
Pre-Test.
David
makes the whole process very straightforward and helps build your
confidence with simple instruction and his easy-going manner. He
concentrates on what’s important so you’re not bombarded
with information allowing you to iron out those bad habits and not
only pass the test but become a better rider. I’d recommend
David to anyone. Kind Regards. Conor Twomey. Editor New

Lorna Dunne, Churchtown Dublin (School Bike CB250)
Pre-Test.
I waited thirteen months for a test date
and needed a full licence to hire a bike in America. I felt under
pressure to pass the test so I took a pre-test with David and without
his expertise I would never have passed. Although I felt nervous on
the day I knew exactly how the examiner would expect me to ride. If
you want to pass take this course! |
| Gerry Mc Elroy, Dublin
(Hornet 600)
Pre-Test.
Hi David, I passed my motorcycle
test on Monday morning and certainly would not have done so without
your expert guidance. The previous Friday morning training focussed
me and I spent the weekend working on the advise you gave. Had I
not done the course I most definately would have failed so many
thanks - I am indebted to you. I will be in contact soon to book
further training.
Once again thank you and keep up the good
work. Regards
Gerry Mc Elroy
